PHOTOGRAPHER
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: This is routine work involving responsibility for the taking of pictures for the Office of Community Relations at the Community College of
the Finger Lakes. The work is performed under the direct supervision of the Director of Community Relations. Does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: (Illustrative only)
Operates cameras for pictures in black and white and color;
Develops negatives, prints, enlarges, copies and performs other finishing and darkroom
processes;
Provides assistance for publicity using photographic media;
Prepares exhibits using photographic materials;
Maintains darkroom, equipment inventory and photo archives.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL
CHARACTERISTICS: Good knowledge of the equipment, techniques and materials for black and white and color photos; good knowledge of the preparation of chemicals for developing processes; skill in the operation of various camera equipment and the processing of film; ability to provide routine maintenance to equipment; ability to work under deadlines and work with a variety of people.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from high school and one year of experience as freelance/commercial/professional photographer.
